Job Title: Diesel Mechanic (CAT SIS, Mack & Caterpillar Engines)
Location: Lorain, Ohio
Job Type: Full-Time
Reports To: Maintenance Supervisor / Shop Manager
We are seeking a skilled and self-motivated Diesel Mechanic with hands-on experience in maintaining and repairing Mack and Caterpillar equipment. The ideal candidate will be proficient in reading and interpreting electrical and hydraulic schematics, and have working knowledge of Caterpillar’s Service Information System (CAT SIS). This position requires a detail-oriented technician with strong diagnostic skills and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs on heavy-duty diesel equipment including Mack and Caterpillar engines.
- Use CAT SIS to retrieve technical service information, schematics, troubleshooting guides, and repair procedures.
- Troubleshoot and repair electrical and hydraulic systems, including wiring harnesses, control modules, sensors, and hydraulic circuits.
- Conduct routine inspections and preventive maintenance to ensure equipment performance and longevity.
- Accurately read and interpret schematics, technical manuals, and service bulletins.
- Maintain detailed service records and complete work orders thoroughly and on time.
- Ensure all work is performed safely and in compliance with company and regulatory standards.
- Work independently and efficiently with minimal supervision while meeting deadlines and maintaining quality.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification or associate degree in diesel technology preferred.
- 3+ years of experience as a diesel mechanic with specific experience on Mack and Caterpillar engines.
- Strong familiarity with CAT SIS and Caterpillar engine diagnostics and repair.
- Proficiency in electrical and hydraulic systems troubleshooting and repair.
- Ability to interpret complex schematics and service manuals.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent time management and self-motivation.
- CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) is a plus but not required.
Physical Requirements:
- Ability to lift 50+ lbs, bend, squat, and work in various positions for extended periods.
- Comfortable working in shop and field environments as needed.
